0Rimini events: Amarcort Film Festival
Rimini is the city of fun par excellence throughout the year, ideal for those who want to spend a family holiday, perfect for beach holiday and night life lovers. But Rimini is also the city of one of the greatest Italian film directors, Federico Fellini, maker of the film “Amarcord”, autobiographical work, and nostalgic glimpse of Rimini in the ’30s, in which are depicted people, places, and passions of a city which is actually a large village, populated by people from the classic and unmistakable “Romagnolo” temperament.
And Rimini, in honor of the great director and the silver screen in itself, hosts the Amarcort Film Festival, an international festival of short films which this year – at its third edition – will be held at the Teatro degli Atti theatre in Rimini on October 28, 29 and 30.
The title of the Festival itself evokes the great Fellini, but this is even more emphasized by a partnership with the Fellini Foundation and the Grand Hotel of Rimini. The principle inspirer of the Amarcort Film Festival is the short film, intended as a short movie, but also as a means of reading and communication that is increasingly taking place among young filmmakers.
Amarcort Film Festival opens a window on the world to understand and interpret reality through the eyes and the visual language of the authors of the various continents.
The official coordinator of the Festival is SMArt Academy, a cultural association working in regional and national fields, offering activities and courses to its members following a highly educational curriculum from a human point of view and for the development of the artistic, musical, expressive and body sensibility.
The competition is divided into three sections: ‘Amarcort’: dedicated to Italian and foreign short films fiction and animation genre, with a maximum duration of 17 minutes; ‘Gradisca’: dedicated to short film fiction and animation genre with a maximum duration of 4 minutes; ‘Fulgor’: exclusively dedicated to short films fiction genre from Romagna with a maximum duration of 17 minutes. The registration to the festival is free and each author can send more short films.
The jury of the festival, that will decide the winners, consists of artists, experts, operators and personalities related to the audiovisual and entertainment field. The audience will decide, instead, the winner from the short finalists of the ‘Gradisca’ section. In addition to the three awards related to the best short film for each section there will be also the “Il Pataca” Award for the best interpretation.
