Trieste, a city of several features!

One of the most magical periods for visiting Trieste is certainly Christmas. In this period and up to New Year’s Eve, this border town is filled with diverse colors and sounds, showing how in this land East and West are in the melting point and coexist.

As for all cities of Friuli, also Trieste is famous for the tradition of Xmas markets: the most famous is held in Piazza Sant’Antonio and nearby streets, particularly interesting because there are stalls from different regions of Italy, but also from northern and eastern Europe, with a great proposal of crafts, as well as wine & food. On the square a big shed is set up with a magnificent Nativity Scene; still on the square stands a Christmas tree over 25 meters high.

All this, alongside the classic look of Trieste, a multifaceted city, ranging from the sea to the Kras mountains, with squares and historic buildings, languages and dialects that are spoken everywhere, the Liberty style along with neoclassical architecture. A mixture which is also on your table, where the typical cuisine of Trieste ranges from seafood to soups and Goulash – typical of the countries of German origin. But you will also enjoy cheese from the Kras hills and mountains, cold cuts and wines from the countryside, sweets of Nordic origin, such as krapfen, strudel and Sacher cake.

In Trieste have passed so many great writers, a sign that the city has a unique charm: Hemingway, Joyce, Stendhal, Svevo, Rilke, Umberto Saba – pseudonym of Umberto Poli who was born here in 1883 and here died in 1957.

A holiday in Trieste allows you to breathe all this, to live immersed in a very special magic, suspended between sea and land, history and future. Someway, also the touristic offer of Trieste is influenced by this polarity: hotels in Trieste are both housed in modern facilities and historic buildings. Family-run property coexists with modern hotels suitable for a business clientele providing technology and wellness.
