0The Côte par excellence is in Nice
The promenade of Nice, a place to meet and walk, is a pedestrian area near the beach. Here, on the Promenade des Anglais, the most famous promenade in the World, Nice lives 24 hours of 24, 365 days a year, with exhibitions, musical performances, stalls and the legendary chaises bleues, blue chairs where tourists and citizens sit and enjoy the breeze from the sea.
This is the authentic coast, the Côte known around the world: on one side there is the sea, on the other museums, parks, the long avenue of shops and the flower markets. It is on this avenue that Nice displays its thousand faces, with hit-and-run tourists and those who have second homes here; hotels as the Negresco, Boscolo, the West End, the Meridien Nice, Le Grimaldi, Westminster or Radisson Blu along with the homeless who enjoy the sun; the so-called “posh” Nice, with the Belle Époque mansions, and that of the gardens with improvised musicians and stalls of all kinds.
Even people walking on the Promenade are so different one another: tourists, students, managers, elderly couples, globetrotter and very fine ladies. The most important events in town take place on the Promenade des Anglais, such as the spectacular carnival parade or the Nice Jazz Festival in July, where on improvised stages have played the greatest artists of all time, from Louis Armstrong to Dizzy Gillespie.
