Nye in Moena – the fairy of the Dolomites

Moena is a picturesque tourist resort very appreciated by tourists to celebrate New Year’s Eve, mainly thanks to the charm of the valley, surrounded by the peaks of the Latemar and the Vallaccia. It is not by chance called the Fairy of the Dolomites, preserving a particular fairy tale charm.

At dawn and dusk the snow-capped peaks that surround Moena are colored pink, adding fairy-tale charm to an already fascinating scenario. For this natural phenomenon of light refraction, the most populated location of the Val di Fassa – about 2600 inhabitants, is nicknamed the “Fairy of the Dolomites.”

Moena is a privileged destination for hikers and gourmands, a natural paradise to experience among huts, chalets and inns. Here you can enjoy several theme trails and ski tours crossing the town, such as the Path of Peace, or the Love Skitour. By San Pellegrino you will access the Tre Valli carousel and Falcade, so as not to miss the experience of the mini skiing trip typical of Trentino’s winter offer. In what is considered to be the classical homeland for bikers, there are countless mountain bike paths to ride through. Here, indeed, for the past 12 years, takes place the “Rampilonga”, one of the most important Italian bike marathons, as well as the famous cross country ski marathon called the Marcialonga.

Apart from a couple of landmarks worthy of note – such as the church of San Vigilio in Piazza C. Battisti and an unusual museum- workshop named Bottega del Pinter, where Domenico Dellantionio worked as a barrel maker – Moena is a typical resort where the main attractions derive from the outstanding surrounding nature and from the possibility to practice all winter sports, thanks to the premium quality accommodation facilities. Cima Bocche,Val di Fassa, Monzoni group and Latemar. This is a real paradise for snow lovers. Nature offers over 200 km of ski slopes, around which equipped structures and qualified staff have been set. Among the most popular winter sports there are: cross country skiing, snowboarding, off-track skiing, alpine skiing, night skiing, ice hockey and ice skating.

Once having kicked off your ski boots, indulge in the pampering of wellness centers that offer traditional and natural services, such as thalassotherapy, hay baths, hydro massage, Turkish baths, aromatherapy and the most innovative beauty treatments: a true renaissance so as to start 2012 at its best.

The historical centre of Moena is a treasure trove, where you can find accommodation facilities such as hotels, residences and apartments with restaurants and elegant shops that during the New Year’s period offer promotional packages including New Years Eve dinner in the price of the stay.

Nevertheless, it is part of the Ladin hospitality to tempt guests with delicacies, and Moena is no exception to this tradition.

There is nothing left for us to do but to get ready for the longest night of the year: there are lots of opportunities whether you are looking for an elegant restaurant for a traditional new year’s eve dinner, or you want to dance until the dawn of the new year, or you prefer waiting for the midnight of December 31 in a warm chalet. Moena: the perfect balance between nature and comfort.
