0Ski weekend in Sestriere
The long weekend of the Immaculate Conception festivity in early December represents the beginning of the winter season in Sestriere, the most important resort of the international ‘Via Lattea’ ski area, which includes the facilities of Sauze d’Oulx, San Sicario, Cesana, Oulx, Claviere, Pragelato up to Montgenèvre in France, 400 km of tracks in total.
In early December, Sestriere will be in evidence for the FIS Carving Cup debut, but especially for Snow Break 2010, which will attract thousands of university students. For 5 years this event has been offering music, sports, entertainment of all kinds and hosts in seven agreed hotels more than 3000 students from all over Italy.
Sestriere was founded by the Agnelli family in the ’30s and hosts today the World Cup races of giant slalom and downhill, on the beautiful slopes of Sisse and Kandar Banchetta, besides being one of the most prestigious ski resorts in Italy.
The ski resort of Sestriere offers about ninety lifts, loops for downhill, facilities for skating on ice, but also – for the summer – a golf course, outdoor swimming pools as well as a beautiful natural landscape for hiking and trekking.
The nightlife in Sestriere spreads around several clubs, the most trendy of which are the Spotty and BarAbba, and from midnight onwards, the Tabata disco, a club where you can find VIPs, celebrities and footballers, especially, of course, those playing for the Juventus team.
