Milan, Rome, Paris, London, Madrid, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Vienna, Oslo, Prague, and then down to the smallest cities of all Europe, January is all sale, saldi, soldes, salden, saldos, reduziert, rebajas, ecc..<\/p>\n

The fever of mid-season sales<\/strong> begins in the first weeks of January and continues throughout the month with specials on products that before Christmas seemed unreachable and have now become more affordable. The main shopping streets, department stores, boutiques, showrooms of the most prestigious fashion designers are besieged by tourists and citizens.<\/p>\n

In Paris<\/strong><\/a>, the appointment is in Avenue Montaigne, Place Vendome<\/strong>, along Rue de Rivoli<\/strong> and Rue Washington<\/strong>, and of course on the miles along the Champs Elysees<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

In London<\/strong><\/a>, neighborhoods like Mayfair<\/strong><\/a> and West End are overwhelmed, as well as major shopping streets such as Oxford Street<\/a>, Kings Road<\/strong>, Carnaby Street<\/strong>, Regent Street<\/strong> and Knightsbridge course<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In Milan<\/strong><\/a>, the Fashion District becomes a place for shopping sprees, between Via Montenapoleone<\/strong><\/a>, Via della Spiga<\/strong>, via Borgospesso, and along the broad avenues lined with shops like Corso Vittorio Emanuele<\/strong>, Via Torino<\/strong> and Corso Buenos Aires<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In Rome<\/strong><\/a>, via Condotti<\/strong><\/a>, via del Corso<\/strong><\/a> and Piazza di Spagna<\/strong> are crowded with shoppers, as well as Via Nazionale, Via Cola di Rienzo and the beautiful Via del Governo Vecchio.<\/p>\n

In Madrid<\/strong><\/a>, most of the shops are concentrated around Puerta del Sol<\/strong><\/a>, along Calle Gran Via<\/strong>, while the most exclusive boutiques are in Calle Montera<\/strong> and Calle Preciados: in Calle Serrano, in the barr\u00eco of Salamanca<\/a> and Calle Vel\u00e1zquez you can by trendy shoes.<\/p>\n

In Amsterdam<\/strong><\/a> you can get lost in the streets flowing around Dam Square<\/strong><\/a>, Kalverstraat and Nieuwedijk Squares, but also near the Central Station<\/strong><\/a> there are shops and boutiques, in the area known as the Nine streets (De Negen Streets) where there are many stores of clothing and accessories.<\/p>\n

In Vienna<\/strong><\/a>, it\u2019s a must to go shopping in Mariahilfer Strasse<\/strong> and the area between the Hofburg and St. Stephen’s Cathedral. In Stockholm<\/strong><\/a>, specials are mostly in \u00d6stermalm or Birger Jarlsgatan, Nybrogatan, \u00d6stermalmstorg and Stureplan.<\/p>\n

In short, you will be spoilt for choice: the ideal would be to spend every weekend in January in a different city, to enjoy the sales after Christmas… in all languages! And thanks to cheap flights and hotel deals, this is truly possible.<\/p>\n
