The motto is &#8220;one people, one nation one mela\u201d. Music, good food and shimmering saris are the ingredients for this incredible free Summer event in Glasgow, which will be at its 21st edition this year. This will be a weekend full of fun and attractions, with free entertainment dance, arts and live music shows.<\/p>\n<p>Originally created in 1990 on the occasion of Glasgow\u2019s celebrations as European City of Culture, The O2 Glasgow Mela is now one of the largest events of the country and allows everyone to experience and celebrate different cultures. Over the years visitors from all over the world have been entertained and enthralled by music, dance and interactive arts with the opportunity to celebrate their shared diversity.<\/p>\n<p>This year, the event will last two days, a whole weekend. Three stages of live music and entertainment will be set up, with performances by <strong>Mumzy Stranger, Bass2base, DCS, Siddi Dhamal Dance<\/strong> and many others. You will have the opportunity to sample and enjoy foods from the east, as well as exotic foods and spices from around the globe or relax in a beer garden while getting involved in the vibrant, multi-cultural atmosphere of the O2 Glasgow Mela.<\/p>\n<p>There is also a kids zone, dedicated to the little ones, with arts and music workshops, Bodyworks Exhibits, a Fun Fair \u2013 of course, and a novelty of this year, the <strong>Cadbury Spots v Stripes<\/strong>, on the occasion of the upcoming <strong>London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games<\/strong>, where children can take part in games including Giant Jenga, Frizzy Winks, Jumbo Dominoes and more!<\/p>\n<p>Visitors to the event are strongly encouraged to use public transport as there is no official parking at the event location.
