Barcelona is not very wide and its historical centre is developed mostly along the <strong>Barrio Gotico<\/strong>, but many of the landmarks are scattered all around in the districts.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Monuments<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong>For example, in the district of<a href=\"http:\/\/www.traveleurope.com\/spain\/barcelona\/hotel-eixample.php\" target=\"_blank\"> <strong>Eixample<\/strong><\/a> there are many of the major works of <strong>Gaudi<\/strong>, a famous architect who left his indelible mark on the city: the <strong>Park G\u00fcell<\/strong>, a park that is an artwork, full of pottery, mosaics representing animals and fantastic situations, the <strong>Casa Calvet<\/strong>, <strong>Casa Mil\u00e0<\/strong>, the complex La Manzana de la Discordia. In Eixample there is also the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.traveleurope.com\/spain\/barcelona\/hotel-sagrada-familia.php\" target=\"_blank\">Sagrada Familia<\/a><\/strong>, a very special structure with four towers that seem sand drippings of children\u2019s plays on the beach.<\/p>\n<p>In the area of <strong>El Born<\/strong> you will find the <strong>Museum of Picasso<\/strong>. In the district of <strong>Montjuic<\/strong> -elegant residential area &#8211; there is a large park with a castle, beautiful gardens and the <strong>Magic Fountain<\/strong>, which dates back to 1929 and which offers a unique show of water plays. In the area there is also the Museu Nacional d&#8217;Art de Catalunya, known as <strong>MNAC<\/strong>, which hosts more than 250 000 works and the largest collection of Romanesque art in the world. In the <strong>Gothic Quarter<\/strong> you will enjoy the <strong>Cathedral <\/strong>of Barcelona with 13 geese in a pond guarding the city&#8217;s patron saint, St. Eulalia, a 13 years old martyr who died after thirteen tortures inflicted by the Romans.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Markets<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong>In Barcelona there are plenty of markets, both outdoors and indoors. The most popular are those of antiques: along <strong>Passeig de Gracia<\/strong> &#8211; in the Eixample area, in Carrer dels Tallers &#8211; close to the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.traveleurope.com\/spain\/barcelona\/landmark\/hotel-ramblas.php\" target=\"_blank\">Ramblas<\/a><\/strong>, in Carrer de la Palla &#8211; near the Cathedral. The flea markets are on Saturday morning in <strong>Port Vell<\/strong>, close to the Cathedral on Thursday morning, almost every day in the <strong>Pla\u00e7a de les Glories Catalanes<\/strong> while on Thursday, the Mercat Gotic is set up in the Pla\u00e7a del Pi. Among the covered markets, worth a mention the <strong>Boqueria on the Rambla<\/strong>, where food is an exhibition of art, the Santa Caterina market and that of Sant Antoni in Eixample.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Movida<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>And then of course the movida, from late afternoon to evening. Places for the happy hour are: the trendy <strong>Caf\u00e9 Zurich<\/strong>, in Plaza Catalunya, the <strong>Ice Barcelona<\/strong>, in Ram\u00f2n Trias Fargas, Cokteleria Boadas in the calle Tallero, <strong>Bar Marsella<\/strong> in Carrer de Sant Pau (where you can try absinthe), and then the <strong>So Da<\/strong>, in Carrer de Aviny\u00f3, the Pil\u00e8 43 in Carrer de N&#8217;Agl\u00e0, Dot in Nou de Sant Francesc, the <strong>Oh&#8217;La&#8217;La<\/strong> in <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.traveleurope.com\/spain\/barcelona\/landmark\/hotel-avinguda-diagonal.php\" target=\"_blank\">Avinguda Diagonal<\/a><\/strong>. After dinner you have a wide choice of entertainment options. At 27, Carrer del Tigre there is one of the oldest clubs in the city, the <strong>Paloma<\/strong>, which offers different types of music throughout the week. The <strong>Razzmatazz<\/strong> is in Carrer dels Almog\u00e0vers, with five dance floors and offering music from rock to techno-house, from electro-rock to techno pop. The <strong>Moog<\/strong>, a techno-house club, is in Arc del teatre.
