<\/p>\n

Let’s try. First stop Dam Square<\/a><\/strong>, with the Royal Palace, the Koninklijk Paleis. From there take the shopping street, the Kalverstaat<\/strong>, with a lap at the biggest shopping mall Kalvertoren<\/strong>. Or, again from Dam Square, take the Nieuwendijk, full of bars, restaurants and coffee shops.<\/p>\n

Near the central square there is the Station<\/a><\/strong> and close to this, the St. Nicolaaskerk basilica, another place worth visiting. From the station starts also Damrak street<\/strong>, another place for fun and entertainment with clubs, bars and restaurants.<\/p>\n

Not to be missed is the Jordaan<\/strong><\/a>, one of the coolest districts of the city, inhabited by artists, where there is also the home of Anne Frank<\/strong>, at number 263, Prinsengracht canal. Another point of great interest is the Van Gogh Museum<\/strong>, at number 7 of Paulus Potterstraat, but definitely you need to experience an evening tour of one of the city’s red light districts<\/a><\/strong>. You can choose from three: the most famous is in Walletjes<\/strong>, another one is Singel<\/strong>, near Raadhuistraat, and the last is Pijp<\/strong>, all multi-ethnic neighborhoods and very lively.<\/p>\n

From the profane to the sacred, another place not to be missed is the Begijnhof<\/strong>, in the south-west of downtown, where you will find well-preserved houses of 1600 lived by the Beguines, lay women who made a vow of chastity and were engaged in voluntary work. For a very romantic moment the best choice could be a ride on a pontoon through the canals, which also cross the way museums, near the Museumplein<\/strong>, where there are the finest museums including the Rijksmuseum<\/strong>, on Dutch art of the last millennium.<\/p>\n

Finally, if you have time, it is worth visiting the Heineken museum<\/strong>, 78 Stadhouderskade, where you can discover all about the famous beer and where you can taste the drink directly from the producer to consumers.<\/p>\n
