Nuit Blanche in Paris – night-time arts festival

First launched in 2002, the so-called White Night of Paris, “Paris Nuit Blanche”, has become an annual celebration of all forms of art and culture. On Saturday, October 1st, 2011, Paris galleries, museums, city halls, and even swimming pools will be open to visitors throughout the night, with free entry.

Among the disillusionment and bitterness of Parisians, who often call it “the asparagus of iron”, this Tower has become the symbol of the city, definitely much more popular with tourists than locals. The Tour Eiffel was built in less than two years, from 1887 to 1889, on the occasion of the “Exposition Universelle”, to commemorate the centenary of the French Revolution, and then it had to be removed. However, what was supposed to be only a temporary addition to the landscape of Paris, is still there instead, proud and powerful, a true icon, from any point of view.
